Catalent Pharma Solutions (Somerset, NJ) has installed and qualified a ZED in-line blister card sealer at its Clinical Supply Services facility in Philadelphia that provides flexibility for both small and high-volume clinical trial packaging. The sealer automatically places blister cards and strips, deploying dual sealing stations that assist in cutting blister sealing time in half and speeding production.

The unit features a large sealing surface for accommodating both large and small format blister cards. An extended filling area allows up to eight different blister strips to be filled at one time, supporting complex blister card designs.

The sealer is part of an ongoing investment to support customers’ increasing global clinical trial requirements, and help speed supplies to clinical trials and products to market, said Frank Lis, vice president and general manager, Clinical Supply Services, Catalent.

“Our investment in the latest technology upgrades in clinical packaging illustrates our commitment to our customers’ needs for new strategies to streamline supply chain management,” Lis said.
